Tangau appointed Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd Chairman
Madius was a Research Officer for Sabah Forestry Development Authority (Safoda) when he was sent to Japan. 
Kota Kinabalu: Tuaran Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau has been appointed Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) Chairman effective June 16 on the recommendation of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), which is under the Federal Finance Ministry, owns 80 per cent of SESB but Sabah would take over regulatory power with a special State Assembly sitting slated for Jan. 3 to pave the way for the move.

Madius, 62, takes over from Dato’ Abdul Razak Abdul Majid who would be Madius’ deputy. Abdul Razak is also TNB Chairman.

Madius is the Honorary President of Upko and Upko Tuaran Chief. He defended the Tuaran seat in GE15 under the Pakatan Harapan banner.

He was Federal Science, Technology and Innovation Minister in 2015 and a former Deputy Chief Minister cum State Industrial Development Minister in 2018.

He also served as Chairman of several federal agencies and state linked companies such as Sabah Cultural Board (LKNS, Forest Plantation Development Sdn. Bhd, Malaysian Timber Industrial Board (MTIB) and Asian Supply Sdn Bhd (ASB).

Madius was also on the board of Suria Capital Berhad, Sabah Energy Corporation Sdn Bhd.

He served as  Chairman of Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park Sdn Bhd (KKIP)  and Chairman of Palm Oil Industrial Cluster (POIC) Lahad Datu Sdn Bhd Shortly after graduating from UPM, Madius was sent to Japan for a four-month training stint in various research institutions.

Upon returning to Sabah in 1985, he assisted Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) as a backroom boy to form the new Sabah government. 

Madius was a Research Officer for Sabah Forestry Development Authority (Safoda) when he was sent to Japan. 

 He joined the newly set up Institute for Development Studies (IDS) Sabah as a research associate and served for nine years until 1994.

While serving in IDS, Madius did his Masters in Development Management (MDM) at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) in Manila.
