Kota Kinabalu: A woman has reportedly warned on Facebook that handling the mobile phone although briefly while using the Waze navigation app while driving is a traffic offence as she found out the hard way in Penang recently.

Candi MieCi said she only briefly picked up her phone off her lap to consult Waze while navigating a roundabout, a seemingly harmless act that was spotted by a traffic policeman. 

The traffic policeman stopped her and said even “that” was not allowed and subsequently fined her, reported goodymy.com.

Candi advised netizens against illegally using the phone while driving.

Candi's Facebook post has sparked a discussion with many netizens sharing their own experiences and advice, suggesting that pleading in court may help reduce the fine and getting a phone holder would save people the trouble.
