Consider homes for ex-SFI staff, says Warisan
“This is where the state government should appear, in a humane and responsible manner, to help the SFI workers who are all Sabahans,” Abdul Aziz said.
SIPITANG: Parti Warisan supreme council member Abdul Aziz Taip said giving Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) homes to Sabah Forest Industries Sdn Bhd (SFI) residents here would be the most humane solution.

He said the proposal can be implemented if Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor agrees in addition to SFI residents having land or building on government land in groups.

“This will highlight any concerns the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government has towards the plight of Sabahans in hardship.

“SFI employees are faced with salary arrears and some do not own land and won’t have anywhere to go.

“This is where the state government should appear, in a humane and responsible manner, to help the SFI workers who are all Sabahans,” Abdul Aziz said in a statement.

The Sipitang Wairsan chief said although various efforts have been made by the affected residents, there has been no sign of the state government wanting to solve their problems.

“They are hoping assistance from the state government…The state government can also consider monetary consolation payments to sustain the SFI residents,” he said.

The Sabah Land and Survey Department issued a notice to vacate the area by yesterday (Thursday).
