Two energy ships to boost power supply

Kota Kinabalu: The State Government will provide two energy ships to stabilise the supply of electricity in the State.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Ir. Shahelmey Yahya said the ships would be stationed in Sandakan and Lahad Datu, as one of the initiatives to avoid an acute power supply problem in the State.

He added there was a situation whereby there was a shortfall of electricity supply in the grid, which forced Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd to ration electricity.

“In addition, SESB and the State Government will increase the capacity through mobile gen sets and the two energy ships which are able to produce 200 megawatts.
