Tawau pedestrian succumbs to injuries
In the 3.30pm incident, the driver of an Isuzu four-wheel drive was on his way home to Jalan Sin On from Jalan Apas when the incident occurred.
TAWAU: A 69-year-old pedestrian died at the Tawau Hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU) four days after he was hit by a car driven by an octogenarian along Jalan Chong Thien Vun.

Acting District Police Chief Supt Champin Piuh said the male victim was rushed to the Tawau Hospital due to serious injuries.

In the 3.30pm incident, the driver of an Isuzu four-wheel drive was on his way home to Jalan Sin On from Jalan Apas when the incident occurred.

Champin said the driver could not avoid the victim. Police are investigating under Sec. 41(1) Road Transport Act (RTD) 1987.

The victim, in his 30s, was riding along Jalan Tanjung Batu Tengah when he was hit by a white Proton Saga car from behind. “The driver of the Proton was heading to Kg Bukit Kukusan from the township. However, due to the distance being too close, the driver could not avoid hitting the motorcycle,” he said.

According to Champin, the victim suffered minor injuries and police are tracking the driver of the Proton. He asked for the public cooperation who witnessed the accident to come forward to help the police investigation.

The case was investigated under Rule 10 166/59.
