Kota Kinabalu: Sabah FC bounced back from their recent slump in form to beat Kelantan United FC 3-0 at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium on Monday night.

The team had earlier lost to Kedah FC 1-2 and PDRM FC 0-1 in their last two away matches, and the victory was only their second on the road this season.

Assistant head coach Rastislav Bozik who was in charge on the night said the players displayed their superior quality to deliver the much needed win.

“It was a good game for us, especially with the result. It was not easy as we had some hiccups at the start.

“The home side had created some chances but as the game progressed we were able to take control and the players showed their quality with very good goals starting from deep to open up the Kelantan defence,” he said.

He was also happy for Saddil Ramdani who started the game and managed to score one and create the other  two.

“Saddil had a very good game himself after a long lay off due to injury and looked like he was almost fully recovered.”

The Indonesian international scored the opening goal in the 22nd minute with a powerful left foot shot to beat the Kelantan United goalkeeper Muhamad Ilham Amirullah Razali after receiving a pass from Gary Steven Robbat.

He then turned provider with a clever through pass for Stuart Wilkin to slot home the second just before the first half whistle.

The third goal in the 62nd minute showed his unselfishness when he beat three defenders inside the box, but instead of shooting, he decided to lay the ball for Baddrol Bakhtiar to put the ball into the net.

Meanwhile, despite the win, Sabah FC remain in fifth place with 27 points after 15 matches.

Their next match is against Kuching City FC at home on July 8.
