4,000 expected at Run for Peace
The key objective of the run that started in 2005 in the Peninsula and Sabah in 2013 is to promote self belief that “Peace starts with me!”, and this year it will adopt a broader theme of peace with sustainability of the planet, using the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a focus.
Kota Kinabalu: The “Run for Peace” event will be making a return after a four-year lapse due to the pandemic at the Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) campus Kawad field on Sunday (July 2) at 6.30am.

Some 4,000 are expected to turn up for the six-kilometre run hosted by Soka Gakkai Association Sabah Branch which will be flagged off by Minister of Youth and Sport Datuk Ellron Angin representing Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor.

In line with the focus on SDGs, RFP 2023 will feature reduction of pollution and use of resources, e.g. instead of supplying bottled water, participants are urged to bring their own containers or tumblers for refilling at the water stations.
