Kota Kinabalu: The Ministry of Youth and Sports will do their very best to ensure Sabah will be able to defend their Para Sukma title in Kuching next year.
Datuk Ellron Angin said this after presenting sports equipment to Beaufort Table Tennis Academy during a working visit on Monday.
He also called on concerted efforts from all parties involved to make sure Sabah can produce not only quality para athletes but also normal athletes to represent the State and country.
“There must be a balanced development in order for Sabah to produce high-performance athletes in Sukma for normal athletes.
“All the athletes need to pay attention in training with 100 per cent effort. They cannot attend the training just to fulfil their schedule without any real inputs.
“This is not only a waste of your own time but also a waste of the expenses channelled by the government to all the sports bodies” he said.
He also called on the athletes to apply sport science to further improve their performances.
Meanwhile, Ellron presented the table tennis equipment in the form of two tables with bats and balls to Sabah Sports Council coach Thien Teck who is also the academy coach at a brief ceremony.
Also present were the Ministry’s deputy permanent secretary Putera Jali, Sabah Sports Council director Asneh Mohd Noor, Sabah Sports Board general manager
Terrance Edward Pudin, Sabah Table Tennis Association president Chua Soon Ann, Sabah State Disabled Sports and Recreation Association (Pesron) president Tan Hwa Koon and another academy coach Ting Ing Hock.
