Monsoon transition: Maritime folks told to be vigilant
He advised the maritime community to be aware of the warnings issued from time to time.
Kota Kinabalu: The maritime community in Sabah and Labuan has been advised to remain vigilant as the country enters the monsoon transition phase.

Based on the warning of strong winds and rough seas issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department, the transition is expected to occur from Thursday until July 20.

Strong west winds with speeds of 50-60km per hour and waves reaching heights of up to 4.5 metres are expected in the waters of west and east Sabah.

APMM Director, First Admiral Maritime Che Engku Suhaimi Che Engku Daik, said strong winds of up to 60km per hour and waves up to 4.5 metres high pose significant danger to small boats, passenger boat operators and marine recreational activities.

“The maritime community is also reminded to prioritise personal safety, inform their families about their sea destinations and locations, ensure the safety of boats for use and remain aware of the current weather conditions,” he said in a statement, Thursday.
