Fined RM30,000 over false claims
The offence under Section 109 of the Penal Code was read together with 471 of the same Code and punishable under Section 465 of the same Code.
SANDAKAN: A secondary school hostel supervisor who abetted a primary school headmaster over false claims related to students’ programmes was fined RM30,000 by the Special Corruption Court here.

Hermansah Masari, 36, pleaded guilty to three alternative charges before Sessions Court judge Jason Juga, Thursday.

On the first, second, and third charges, Hermanshad had abetted Brahim Zakaria for using three false cash bills worth RM6,000, RM5,000 and RM3,300, respectively, to make claims between Dec 23, 2016, and July 14, 2017, at Sekolah Kebangsaan Karamunting, Sandakan.

The claims were payment for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri banquet for the school’s students, equipment supply in conjunction with the Dengue Patrol Camp for the students, and goods supply for the students during a leadership programme.

The court imposed a fine of RM10,000 in default eight-month jail for each charge.

It carries a jail term of up to two years, a fine, or both, upon conviction.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission prosecuting officer Dzulkarnain Rousan Hasbi prosecuted while the accused was unrepresented.

The accused paid the fines.

It was reported in July 2020 that the SK Karamunting headmaster Brahim was sentenced to 18 months’ jail and fined RM9,000 for three counts of power abuse over the misappropriation of school funds between 2016 and 2017.
