TAWAU: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Thursday arrested three individuals including a law enforcement member for allegedly receiving kickbacks by letting an Indonesian national illegally travel from Tawau to Kuala Lumpur.
The suspects allegedly allowed the Indonesian, who had no valid travel documents, to depart Tawau without inspection and for a bribe of RM12,000, according to information confirmed by the Sabah MACC.
The 35-year-old official, who was on duty in Tawau, was suspected to have been in cahoots with the two others, middlemen aged between 40 and late 50s.
