Boy, 14, drowns in Lahad Datu

LAHAD DATU: A 14-year-old boy drowned while bathing at a river in Kampung Sepagaya, Batu 5, here, Friday. 

Muhamad Zulaimie was bathing with his friends when the incident happened.

A State Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said the department received a distress call at 3.12pm and a team from the Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the scene in a fire engine.

When they arrived, the victim had already been found by the public.

“Our personnel immediately conducted Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on the victim. However, the medical officer at the scene confirmed the victim had died,” said the spokesman.

The operation ended at 4.52pm.
