KOTA KINABALU: Two terrace houses and several vehicles went up in flames at Taman Nipoh in Kolombong, here, Sunday.

Nobody was injured in the fire, destroying an eight-year-old Dmax and a one-tonne lorry. 

House owner Tan, 76, said he was showering when he heard crackling noises only to realise that his house was on fire. 

Clad in a sarong, the elderly man only salvaged his two handphones before running to safety. 

His 35-year-old son and 16-year-old grandson were in the house with him when the 4.35pm fire started. 

It is understood that the family had been staying in the housing area since 1986. 

The unit next to theirs belonged to his daughter, who rented it out to a family of five. 

The Lintas and Sembulan Fire and Rescue Station firefighters were deployed to the scene following a 4.41pm distress call.
