Kota Kinabalu: The entitlement of RM125.6 million beginning in 2022 with additional RM300 million announced by the Deputy Prime Minister on Tuesday is insufficient to align with the original intention of the 1969 order, which aimed to increase the base sum of RM20 million at a rate of 7.5 per cent annual increment, said former Petagas Assemblyman Datuk James Ligunjang.
The new sums may appear larger, but they do not accurately represent Sabah’s rightful entitlement based on Article 112C of the Federal Constitution, he said.
Furthermore, James claimed that the absence of a proper methodology and computation to determine Sabah’s entitlement has resulted in uncertainty regarding the actual amount owed to the State.
