First-time host Sabah sees 10,000 visitors at NCD 2023

Kota Kinabalu: More than 10,000 people thronged the National Cooperatives Day (NCD) 2023 celebration, held for the first time in Sabah.

Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said NCD’s celebration in Sabah achieved its target, following an encouraging response.

“The National Cooperatives Day held here is one of the best platforms for local entrepreneurs to establish cooperation with entrepreneurs from abroad.”

After conducting a survey and visiting almost all 200 exhibitors, Ewon said he was informed that most of the participants enjoyed a very encouraging sales.

He said this after officiating at the NCD 2023 closing ceremony at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) here.

Ewon, who is also Penampang MP, said many participants from Peninsula Malaysia and Sarawak who took part in the exhibition managed to establish collaboration with cooperatives in Sabah to promote their products.

“Cooperatives in Sabah will also work with them to market their respective products.

“This is the purpose of us creating NCD in Sabah so that the cooperative movement can be empowered, especially in Sabah,” he said.

The event, organised by the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives through its agency, the Malaysian Cooperative Commission (MCC), was held at the SICC on July 21-23.

Among the highlights included exhibitions of products and services of cooperatives and entrepreneurs, Madani sales, food truck as well as e-sports and mini games.

Also in the lineup were clinics and services provided by the Ministry, agencies and corporates; business matching, job search programme, enrolment ointo institution of higher learning programme and sharing of cooperatives successes.
