Don’t be swayed by PN’s empty rhetoric, Bung tells youths
GOMBAK: Sabah Barisan Nasional chief Bung Moktar Radin has urged youths not to be swayed by Perikatan Nasional’s rhetoric about the government’s performance.
GOMBAK: Sabah Barisan Nasional chief Bung Moktar Radin has urged youths not to be swayed by Perikatan Nasional’s rhetoric about the government’s performance.

“If a Muslim politician slanders in order to win, I think that leader is wayward,” said Bung at a ceramah in Dusun Tua last night.

“It’s easy to change the government, but forming a new one is not.”

No party or coalition was given a clear mandate to govern after last year’s general election.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, had initially asked Pakatan Harapan and PN to form a unity government, but PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin said he turned this down as PN could not work with the Anwar Ibrahim-led PH.

PH and Barisan Nasional, as well as Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), then agreed to form the federal government.

Bung said the youths should give Anwar their trust to lead the country as his economic policies are “long-term and moderate”.

Last Thursday, Anwar unveiled his Madani economic narrative aimed at positioning the country as an attractive investment destination while promoting economic activities which have high multiplier effects.

Bung, the Kinabatangan MP, also said PN is targeting to capture Selangor as it is the richest and best-governed state in the country.

“Other than contributing to 25% of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP), Selangor has attracted around 160,000 people from other states to work here,” he said.

“But we can see how PN-led Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan can’t even pay the salaries (of their civil servants) without federal government allocations.”

He said the youths should not take the unity government for granted because this was the first time that PKR and Umno have put aside their differences for the development of the country.

“If we continue to disagree with one another, it will be the people who will suffer the consequences,” he said.
