PETALING JAYA: Gabungan Parti Sarawak will not be involved in any campaign programme for the Aug 12 state elections, says its chairman, Abang Johari Openg.

Abang Johari, who is also the Sarawak premier, said GPS leaders only showed up on nomination day to support Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidates on the principle of supporting the unity government.

“We will not send our (election) machinery. I was there (on nomination day) as a sign of our support for the unity government.

“What’s more important is political stability and to implement the policies that would set the course for Malaysia,” he said, according to Utusan Malaysia.

He was asked if GPS’ election machinery would be deployed to help PH and BN campaign for the elections.

Abang Johari and Sabah chief minister Hajiji Noor had joined Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on nomination day last Saturday in Selayang and Ampang, Selangor.
