Kota Kinabalu: Hajiji wants the Sabah Education Department to identify why many SPM candidates did not sit for the exam in 2022.

He said, based on the report, only 34,461 out of 40,147 students in Sabah had registered last year.

Recently, Minister Fadhlina Sidek said about 10,000 of almost 30,000 candidates who did not sit for their SPMs last year registered to repeat it this year.

“I pay serious attention to this issue in Sabah, because SPM is an important exam which determines the future of our children and compulsory for pursuing higher learning.

“Besides, education is a right for all. Therefore, I want the State Department of Education to identify their reason for being absent.

I want students from Sabah who did not sit for SPM 2022, to take the opportunity to do so this year”, he said.
