Zahid reminds Umno members not to sabotage candidates
Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says Umno members in Negeri Sembilan must make the most of his deal with PH to allow the party to contest in Lenggeng.
PETALING JAYA: Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi reminded party members not to sabotage its candidates in the state election.

He told Umno members in Lenggeng, Negeri Sembilan, that he and state Umno chief Jalaluddin Alias had worked hard to negotiate with Pakatan Harapan for PH to make way in Lenggeng.

Reminding party members not to waste this opportunity, he said he had not received any official reports about Umno members sabotaging any candidate.

“No official report has been received, but if there is any report, we won’t even need to call for an investigation.

“If there is evidence on social media, in video and audio recordings, we will take action,” he told reporters after a ceramah organised by Lenggeng Umno.

Zahid said Umno members must focus on ensuring support from Barisan Nasional and PH grassroots as well as undecided voters.

He also warned the opposition against practising double standards in their accusations of bribery.

Previously, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man asked the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to come up with guidelines on the pledging of aid by politicians during the election period.

MACC chief Azam Baki had earlier said there was no element of corruption in Zahid’s pledge to increase youth grants in Terengganu in a speech last Friday in which he outlined the party’s election manifesto.

“I have my own guidelines and they are based on the Election Commission Act,” Zahid said.
