Kota Kinabalu: A Sabah businessman, accused of offering a scam Covid-19 vaccine donation to the government in 2021 due to a mistype of his HongKong-based company’s name as the donor was cleared of the allegation by a letter from the Attorney-General’s Chamber (AGC) in May.
Yong Chee Kong heaved a huge sigh of relief when the AGC letter stated that “he was wrongly implicated as being involved in a scam” and “No offences being revealed after investigation, we (AGC) classified police report against him as “No Further Action”.
A lawyer Wong Su Lynn, who represents Yong said he suffered bitter experiences when news about the alleged scam were extensively reported in all mass media, including portals and social media networks in May 19 and 20, 2021.
