Kota Kinabalu: A 43-year-old man who kicked the door of his mother’s house because he was upset with the amount of money she gave him, was fined RM2,500 or 13 months jail.
Andy Andrew, self-employed, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to committing mischief by kicking the door at Kg Nosoob, Penampang, at 8.50pm on July 25 and causing a loss of RM200.
The charge under Section 427 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of between one year and five years or with fine or both, on conviction.
Earlier, the court was informed by the prosecution that Andy’s mother found the door vandalised by Andy who was not satisfied with the amount of money she had given him.
Andy went berserk and broke down the door and at the same time threatened his mother, who then lodged a police report before he was arrested.
The prosecution also informed the court that Andy had a conviction record where he was jailed a week and fined RM1,500 on July 6, 2000 for assaulting a man.
Unrepresented, Andy requested for a lower fine by saying that he was self-employed and married with three children.
The prosecution applied for an adequate sentence.
In another case, a 49-year-old man was jailed 14 months for having a stolen motorcycle.
Nasir Sairan pleaded guilty to keeping the stolen Yamaha motorcycle belonging to Hanizan Abu around 9am on May 5, this year in front of an office at Kg Air, here.
The charge is framed under Section 411 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to five years or fine or both, on conviction.
