Duo fined RM35,000 over illegals
Ngo was fined a total of RM30,000 for allowing six Filipinos aged between 23 and 49, who did not have identification documents to stay at the Proposed Conversion, Amalgamation and Subdivision For 58 units of two storey terrace in Kg Laya-Laya, Tuaran at 11.15am on Jan 11 this year.
Kota Kinabalu: Two men were fined a total of RM35,000 for allowing illegal immigrants to stay in their premises, respectively.

Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz meted out the sentence to Jackson Lim Jiunn Hann, 33, and Ngo Sun Kee, 67, who pleaded guilty separately.

Fo Lim, was fined RM5,000 in default two months jail for permitting a 19-year-old Filipino who did not have any document to be at the Maple Karaoke Lounge in, Penampang at 1.25am on April 15 this year.

Ngo was fined a total of RM30,000 for allowing six Filipinos aged between 23 and 49, who did not have identification documents to stay at the Proposed Conversion, Amalgamation and Subdivision For 58 units of two storey terrace in Kg Laya-Laya, Tuaran at 11.15am on Jan 11 this year.

The court ordered Ngo to pay RM5,000 in default two months’ jail for each illegal immigrant involved.

The offence under Section 55E(2) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 which carries a jail term of up to a year, or a fine of between RM5,000 and RM30,000, or both, for each illegal immigrant involved.

Both Lim and Ngo paid the fines.

During mitigation, they asked for leniency.

However, the prosecution urged the court to impose an appropriate sentence.
