Trafficking Syabu: Filipino charged  
The charge under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 carries a punishment of either the death penalty or life in prison and whipping with a minimum of 15 strokes.
Kota Kinabalu: An unemployed Filipino was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here with trafficking 5,035gm of syabu.

Anderli Tony, 25, was accused of committing the offence at 4.30pm on Aug 2 at the roadside near the garbage dump at Bambangan Apartment, Inanam, near here.

However, no plea was taken from Anderli, who appeared before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie.

The court fixed Oct 2 for mention pending the chemist’s report and ordered Anderli to be remanded further.

In another case, four men were jailed two months each for trespassing.

Labourers Arnasir Abdullah, 37, Adsmar Uddin, 32, Edar Boy, 32, and unemployed Amirullah Jalah, 27, pleaded guilty to committing criminal trespass by entering the landfill site, at Jalan Kayu Madang, Manggatal without permission between 9.30pm on Aug 5 and 12.30am on Aug 6.

They were jointly charged under Section 447 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to six months or fine of up to RM3,000 or both, on conviction.

Earlier, the court was informed by prosecuting officer Inspector Suzie @ Stephanie Kupit that the four were seen trespassing into the site by the complainant working for a waste recycling company.

The four were then detained and handed over to the police.

The court ordered the four to serve the sentence from the date of their arrest and also ordered Edar and Amirullah to be referred to the Immigration Department after serving the sentence.

In another case, four men were penalised for taking drugs.

Donald Douglas, Mohamad Rekam, Safuan Tajudin and Hairul Adris pleaded guilty to committing the offence at separate locations here and in Penampang between June 7 and June 23.

Donald was jailed eight months, Mohamad and Hairul were each handed seven months while Safuan was fined RM2,600 or 10 months jail.

Taking drugs under Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act provides for a fine of up to RM5,000 or up to two years jail, on conviction.
