RANAU: A 30-year-old China national had to be carried down Mount Kinabalu after she fell and sprained her left ankle while climbing on Saturday.
Head of BBP Ranau Station PPgB Ridwan Mohd Taib said the incident happened in Kilometer 6.2 of the Mount Kinabalu climber’s trail at about 9am.
“We received an emergency call through the Station Line about the incident and a group of seven Mount Kinabalu search and rescue team (Mosar) and two Fire and Rescue personnel led by Operations Commander, PBKII Kup Nickson Juni rushed to the scene.
“When our team arrived at the scene located about 100 meters from the Mosar post, we found that there was a female victim had fallen and sprained her left ankle at Km8.1.
“The victim was lifted by a mountain ranger using the piggyback carrying technique to Pandan Hut,” he said.
“The victim was sent to hospital by the EMRS team for further treatment. She was the fourth to suffer injuries this month.
