Over 200 Beaufort PR1MA buyers get keys

BEAUFORT: PR1MA Malaysia Corporation (PR1MA) agency under the Ministry of Local Government Development (KPKT) is committed to completing all projects, including in Sabah, with its priority to build conducive homes for all Malaysians. 

Its Woodford Estate Residence Phase 1 project, which was undertaken by Gaya Belian Sdn Bhd, comprising of 300 terrace houses and equipped with a multi-purpose hall, nursery, kindergarten and surau has received the Certificate of Occupancy (OC) on Feb 20, this year.

PR1MA issued a Vacant Possession (VP) notice to all buyers last May and the process of handing over keys to the buyers begun with 219 having received theirs. About 30 units have been occupied since.

“The completion of this project was the result of collaboration between PR1MA and the Sick and Abandoned Private Housing Project Task Force under KPKT, the State Government, Local Authorities (PBT) and other interested parties”, Haji Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir, Deputy Minister of Local Government Development (KPKT) said.

The direction of the construction of Phase 2 will be determined by taking into account the capability of the newly appointed contractor through open tender and prioritising the welfare of buyers.

A Joint Termination Agreement with the original contractor, advance application for cancellation of the project development license and termination of the Sale and Purchase Agreement with 81 existing buyers would be among the steps to be taken.

Moreover, buyers would also be protected under the Defects Liability Period (DLP) for two years, he said.

KPKT under PR1MA is committed and ensure the people will obtain their quality and affordable homes soon, he said.

In addition, a total of 204 buyers will receive compensation amounting to RM3.4 million due to the delay in the completion of Phase 1.

Five other residential projects have been completed. They are Kota Marudu Residences, Borneo Cove Residences, Kinarut South Phase 1 and 2, and Ranggu Residencies.

Three other residential projects are Woodford Estate Residence Phase 2, Menggatal Residences and Elopura Residences are under construction.

All the projects total 5,731 units according to Datuk Seri Haji Mohd Nazri Md. Shariff, Chief Executive Officer of PR1MA. They are scheduled for completion by end 2024.
