RANAU: A local teenager has been remanded on suspicion of stabbing to death his nine-year-old brother with a knife, here, Friday.
Ranau District Police Chief DSP Simiun bin Lomudin said the male victim died after being rushed to Ranau Hospital.
“Police received a report at 11.27am from a man that his younger brother had been stabbed by his own brother.
“Preliminary investigations found the victim was stabbed in the stomach by his 19-year-old brother while both were in the living room of their home in Kg Kinapulidan at about 5.40am,” he said.
The victim was rushed to hospital by a neighbour. “He was confirmed dead at approximately 11.10am while receiving treatment at Ranau Hospital’s emergency unit,” he said.
Police are investigating the motive and do not rule out that the suspect has mental problems.
The case was classified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
He urged those with information about the incident to contact IPD Ranau to assist in the investigation.
