KENINGAU: Former Director of Keningau Vocational College (KV Keningau) Christine Stanislaus Kinsik was excited to be selected as a speaker for the Global Smart Education Conference (GSE) session in Beijing, China on August 18-20.
She considered the selection as one of the tributes to Vocational College education in Malaysia led by the Malaysian Ministry of Education.
“Since she has been appointed as Director of Sandakan Vocational College 2 which has just been completed, she is determined to continue practising and improving the transformation efforts she implemented at KV Keningau,” said KV Keningau Head of Research and Innovation, Dr Sirhajwan Idek, here.
He said Christine and Head of Hospitality Department KV Keningau Anita Md Yasin represented Malaysia at GSE being invited as one of the forum speakers.
He said the face-to-face conference was organised by Beijing Normal University and the Unesco Institute for Information Technologies in Education.
Before the conference, he said Christine and Anita participated in a benchmark visit sponsored by Seameo Regional Centre for Technical Education Development (Seameo TED) and the organisers of this conference from Aug 14 to 17.
“The theme of this conference is Education Transformation and Data Governance. KV Keningau has been selected to make a partnership during the digital transformation session and the development of youth skills,” he said.
Sirhajwan said Christine, who was on duty as the Director of KV Keningau until the middle of Aug, was invited as a speaker to represent Malaysia.
“She discussed the efforts that have been implemented by KV Keningau under her leadership where this college expanded its internationalisation programme involving cultural exchange classes for three months every year with vocational institutes in Southeast Asia and master classes run by excellent teachers from other countries.
“Christine also described the online programme as being recognised as the best practice by Seameo Voctech based in Brunei,” He said.
He said Christine also presented the innovation training initiative of the college which was supported by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti) which then sponsored the construction of an inventor centre known as Ruang Daya Cipta (RDC) in the college area and this centre is accessible to the community.
Sirhajwan added Christine also presented the community activities carried out by the teachers and students of the college.
