14 illegal immigrants jailed
They were arrested in the city area between Aug 10 and 22 this year after failing to produce their identification documents to the police. The offence under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/1963 provides for a jail term of up to five years, or a fine of up to RM10,000, and whipping, on conviction.
Kota Kinabalu: Fourteen illegal immigrants were jailed four months each for entering the State illegally.

They were Najib Abdul Gapal, Ridjuan Raw, Ali Adol, Marjin Jinur, Kisah Osman, Dano Jamlo, Irwan Kilaman, Abdullah Ngah, Ahmad Abas, Sibal Kuring, Senro Raw, Kadil Kilaman, Palson Kilaman and Al Mukri P. Ramlee.

All of them pleaded guilty separately before Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz, to the charge against them.

They were arrested in the city area between Aug 10 and 22 this year after failing to produce their identification documents to the police.

The court ordered the illegal immigrants to serve the jail sentence from the date of their arrest.

After completing their jail sentence, the illegal immigrants were ordered to be referred to the Immigration Department for their biometric data to be recorded before deportation.

Meanwhile, a man was fined RM10,000 in default four months’ jail for overstaying in the State.

Yulius Magita admitted to staying in the State after his passport had expired.

He was ordered to be referred to the Immigration Department after paying the fine or serving the jail sentence.
