Kota Kinabalu: A plan to increase assessment rates for properties in Kolopis, Penampang will remain as a proposal as of now, said State Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam.
If there is a protest, the proposal would be reviewed to reach a win-win situation.
“We are trying to elevate the status of the Penampang District Council into a Municipal Council, and to do that, we need the Council to have a higher level of income.
“Part of this includes the implementation of assessment rates or ‘cukai pintu’, but it doesn’t mean we will stick to the one that we proposed. It is still just a proposal for now,” he said.
