Kota Kinabalu: The Labuan Strongestman/woman and Ninja Warrior Challenge 2023 on September 15-17 is set to feature one of the region’s best – Choo Kok Wei.
The Perak-born strongman who has already won the open titles in Kedah, Brunei and Singapore since the start of the year has confirmed his entry on Tuesday.
Event coordinator Roger Frederick said Choo’s presence is certain to motivate other competitors who are vying for the title.
According to him, 19 have registered for the strongestman category to date and apart from Choo, the latest to join in the fray are Tian Yang and Dionsius Ng from Singapore.
Other foreign entries who had earlier been added to the list are a five-member team from Brunei led by Borneo Strongestman 2022 runner-up Hamizan Zainal and Azahar Azman (Jakarta Open runner-up), Pg Roslannie Pg Hj Jumat (Jakarta Master runner-up), Ismal Shaiful Baharin (Jakarta Novice champion) and Elvick Sigar Padan.
Indonesia will be represented by current Indonesia’s Strongmania International Strongman competition winner Johanes, who also came second in the Brunei Open Strongman Competition in May.
The three-day event organised by Motac Labuan will be held at the Labuan International Sea Sports Complex.

Registration fee for the strongest event is RM250 for Malaysian and RM350 for non-Malaysian in the men’s open and RM150 in the women’s novice.
The warrior challenge is only open to 50 entries and registration fee is RM50 with additional RM25 for T-shirts.
