Kota Kinabalu: A 36-year-old man was charged at the Magistrate’s Court here Wednesday with assaulting a man seven months ago.
Amir Azuan Abdullah, a teacher, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to voluntarily causing hurt to Mohammad Jubkar at 5pm on Feb 15, this year at the Giat Mara, Taman Bersatu, Putatan.
The charge under Section 323 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to one year or fine or both, on conviction.
The court fixed Sept 26 for case management and released Amir on a RM1,000 bail in two sureties.
In another case, a 28-year-old man, who fraudulently deposited RM5,000 into his bank account was fined RM100 or a day’s jail.
Md Ruzaizi Ariff of Negeri Sembilan pleaded guilty to having the money belonging to Yapin Yosep in his Maybank account which he failed to give a satisfactory explanation on how he obtained the money on June 8, this year.
The offence under Section 22A (1) of the Minor Offences Ordinance, provides a fine of up to RM100 or up to three months in jail or both, on conviction.
