Excessive bills: SESB lodges police report
On Sept 8, about 100 people in Kota Belud claimed to have received electricity bills totalling thousands of ringgit.
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) has lodged a police report for further investigations to be conducted on excessive electricity bills allegedly imposed on residents in Kg Kulambai, Kg Kuala Abai and Kg Kulambai Dundau in Kota Belud recently.

SESB lodged the police report on Wednesday at the Kota Belud District Police Headquarters over concerns of possible wrongdoing and law violations from certain parties.

Its Chief Executive Officer Ir Ts Mohd Yaakob Jaafar said SESB takes the issues seriously and is in the process of taking legal action and handing over investigations to the authorities.

He said SESB is also conducting an internal investigation to identify the cause of the incident in an effort to ensure it does not happen again.

“SESB is also considering making a report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) if there is an element of corruption in this matter,” he said Wednesday.

Mohd Yaakob also emphasised that SESB will not compromise with any party, including SESB employees, if found to be involved in misuse of power which leads to leakage of electricity supply and burdening customers.
