PAC to summon Wee, Tajuddin, Bung next week in  Covid-19, Felcra probes

PETALING JAYA: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will summon Ayer Hitam MP Wee Ka Siong next week for its fourth proceedings into the management of the Covid-19 pandemic, given that his name was mentioned in previous proceedings.

PAC chairman Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said former health ministry secretary-general Dr Chen Chaw Min will also be called for next Thursday’s proceedings.

“PAC needs evidence and an explanation from Wee since his name was mentioned in prior proceedings. To be fair to him, the PAC intends to hear his explanation.

“But I will not disclose the reason since the PAC proceedings are subject to Meeting Rule 85 of the Dewan Rakyat Meeting Rules,” she told a press conference at Parliament today.

Mas Ermieyati also said the committee will summon former Felcra Berhad chairmen Tajuddin Abdul Rahman and Bung Moktar Radin next Monday to assist in its probe relating to the agency’s management.

“PAC will call the two former Felcra chairmen next Monday to provide explanations and statements related to the Felcra Berhad issue highlighted in the Auditor-General Report 2021 series 2: The Activities Of Federal Statutory Bodies And The Management Of Subsidiary Companies.”

Earlier today, PAC held its third proceedings with testimony provided by health ministry deputy secretary-general (finance) Dr Norazman Ayob, Pharmaniaga chairman Izaddeen Daud and Pharmaniaga executive committee chairman Ahmad Shahredzuan Shariff.

The first PAC proceedings regarding the Covid-19 pandemic management was conducted on June 15 and the second one on Aug 22.
