Kota Kinabalu: The 37th Sabah Amateur Open Golf Championship organised by Sabah Golf Association (SGA) will be held at Shan Shui Golf and Country Resort in Tawau on September 22-24.
SGA president Nash Hon called on golf enthusiasts to seize the opportunity to take part in the competition against some accomplished golfers from various regions of Malaysia and also from overseas.
He said the tournament is a prominent fixture within the national golf circuit by the Malaysia Golf Association (MGA) and holds World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) status, rendering it accessible to all amateur golfers whose current WHS Handicap Index is 11.6 (14) or lower for men and 19.8 (24) or lower for the ladies.
According to him, attractive prizes awaited the winners with up to 10 gross and 10 nett prizes designated for the men’s category, and three gross and three nett prizes for the ladies.
He added that the tournament is poised to have a positive impact on the local tourism sector, providing an ideal opportunity for golfers and their families to enjoy a memorable vacation in the scenic locales of Tawau and Semporna.
Registration fee for local participants is set at RM450, while foreign players are required to pay US$200, inclusive of a range of incentives and prizes.
