The idol is placed on a decorated platform or altar, and a special puja (worship) is performed, offering modak (sweet dumplings believed to be Lord Ganesha’s favourite), coconut, fruits, flowers, and incense sticks to the deity.

The final day sees the immersion of idols in water bodies, symbolising the cyclical nature of life and Lord Ganesha’s return to Mount Kailash, his heavenly abode.
