Kota Kinabalu: The introduction of the new Lahad Datu-Bongao ferry services scheduled later this month will help further boost economic activities and strengthen bilateral ties between Malaysia and the Philippines.
“In totality, the new sea link route is good news for people of both borders…It will enable better security monitoring-enforcement of the two international gate ports,” newly appointed BIMP-EAGA Business Council Chairman for Sabah Dr Raymond Alfred said.
In refuting the fear expressed by Ex-MP for Kota Kinabalu Datuk Hiew King Chiew that the ferry service may become an easy gateway to Sabah for Filipinos, he said:
“We need to address or deal with the issues on “Economic Driven Activities” and the “Security of Sabah” separately.
