TAWAU: Sabah’s indigenous groups accounted for 94 of the 153 juvenile cases in the State in 2021, according to Department of Social Welfare (JKM) statistics.
State Community Development and People’s Wellbeing Minister Datuk James Ratib said the gender breakdown showed that 77 cases involved boys and 17 cases involved girls.
“Drug cases were the highest contributor to social problems with 1,052 cases with 916 cases for boys and 136 cases for girls,” he said when officiating the awareness programme on Social Issues and Parental Responsibilities Towards Children organised by MPWS Social Sub-Committee, here.
His speech was delivered by Deputy Sabah Women’s Adversary Council Chairman Baiyah Ag Mahmon. She said all parties need to play an important role in the implementation of preventive measures.
