Theft suspect surrenders to police

TAWAU: A foreigner, suspected of stealing a gold chain in Kg Langsat, Merotai near here, was arrested after surrendering at Bombalai Police Station around 3.39pm on Sunday.

District police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the 40-year-old woman was arrested by a police team led by Inspector James Paran.

He said the team kept the suspect under surveillance after receiving a complainant.

However, the suspect surrendered.

“Inspection revealed that the female suspect has no documents,” he said.

Jasmin said the suspect was taken to Tawau IPD for further investigation under Section 379 of the Penal Code and Section 6(1) (c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
