Kota Kinabalu: SICC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Datuk Rosmawati Lasuki said they are excited as the venue provider for the pageant.
“The Miss Tourism International 2023 is more than just a competition. It is a celebration of unity and diversity.
“This global event serves as a unique opportunity for showcasing contestants’ beauty and talents and as a platform for fostering international business relations.
“It brings together individuals and organisations from various countries, facilitating interactions that can lead to new business ventures, partnerships, and economic collaborations.
“We believe that through this platform, we can foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures while strengthening international relations,” she said.
Themed “Bringing the World to Sabah”, the pageant can function as a catalyst for bringing nations closer and promoting mutual respect, cooperation, and economic growth on a global scale, she said.
“As the venue provider, we understand the significance of this event and its role in bringing people together from different corners of the globe.
“We hope this event will create a lasting and meaningful experience for all involved the contestants, their supporters, and the global viewers.
“We look forward to the finale with great excitement and enthusiasm as we witness the beauty, talent, and cultural richness each nation brings to this stage.”
Rosmawati said Sabah will always be ready to host major events like pageants.
“Especially in SICC, we will leverage our award-winning brand to provide a venue for such events,” she said.
In March, SICC won two awards from the World Brands Foundation – BrandLaureate Sustainable Business and Brands Inspirational Achievement Awards 2022-2023 for Services – Multi-Functional Convention Centre and The BrandLaureate Brand Leadership Award 2023.
The convention centre was also honoured with the prestigious 2023-2025 Asean Mice Venue Award – Exhibition Venue Category by the Asean Tourism Awards.
The award presentation will be held in conjunction with the Asean Tourism Forum in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, on Feb 5, 2024.
