Kota Kinabalu: Team Meekats from Petaling Jaya won the 14th Sabah Team Tennis invitational tournament on Sunday.
They defeated KL Grinders 4-1 in the final to win the RM5,000 cash prize while the losing finalists received RM3,000.
In third place to take home the RM2,000 cash prize were Melaka United who edged Sarawak LTA team 3-2 in the play off.
Meanwhile, Sandakan Fighters captured the losers pool title after beating Morning Glory 4-1 in the final.
Sabah Tennis Association president Johnson Koh said a total of 20 teams took part in the four-day competition.
According to him, 11 of the teams are from outside the State and they received favourable responses from all the participants.
A welcoming dinner sponsored by Tourism, Culture, and Environment Ministry was held earlier at Kinabalu Yacht Club in Tanjung Aru.
