Kota Kinabalu: Yayasan Sabah Technology College (KTYS) CEO Haji Samin Ongki said parents of the 21 students sent to pursue religious studies in Egypt and Jordan recently need not fear for their safety.
He was responding to concern on increasing tensions in the Middle East following Israel’s war on Hamas militants over the weekend that left 2,000 dead and fears of Israel’s neighbours being drawn into the conflict.
Egypt shares a border with Gaza where Hamas is based and is now the target of an air and ground offensive.
“Currently there is no security issue because our students in Egypt and Jordan always work closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia.
