Kota Kinabalu: Sabah will lose some 6,000 domestic flight seats a week due to the abrupt suspension of MYAirline Sdn Bhd, said a Sabah Tourism Board official.
CEO Noredah Othman said this would impact the State’s tourism sector as 70 to 80 per cent of Sabah’s tourist arrivals are domestic.
“MYAirline flies 26 direct flights weekly from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu, which amounts to about 4,680 seats," she told a press conference Friday.
“It also flies directly from Kuala Lumpur to Tawau 14 times weekly, which is twice a day. It does impact us as for Sabah the biggest number of arrivals is domestic. Domestic arrivals are still very important for us. So this is unfortunate."
