Kota Kinabalu: SOS Heart Foundation (SOSHF) sent a six-year-old young patient from Kunak for heart surgery, recently.

Its President Datuk Eva Susau said Dalia Nayna was SOSHF’s 717 patient to benefit from the Society and all cost of surgeries, travelling expenses and allowances were fully met by SOSHF.

Dalia, or Nana, who hails from Kg Pangi, was from a humble and underprivileged background and battled with a complex Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) heart condition since young.

“After her recent successful surgery in Kuala Lumpur, it became evident that a pacemaker was essential to ensure a healthier and happier life.

“Her determination to heal was coupled with her mother’s unwavering confidence, despite facing uncertainties and logistical challenges. The medical professionals recognised the urgency of the situation and sought sponsorship from the Sabah Heart Fund to make a difference in this child’s life.

“This inspiring journey was not just about saving a life; it was a testament to the power of unity, compassion and collective strength,” said Eva.

Eva said after a strenuous journey and the successful placement of a pacemaker, Nana and her mother returned to their Kunak home last Thursday to recover.

“It was a long and arduous road, but together, we made it happen. The Heart Society stands as a beacon of hope for individuals like them, show casing the impact that can be made when communities and organisations come together.
