SIPITANG: A pipe that supplies water to the district was found burst near Speedmart 99 mini market in Kg Marintaman, here, Friday.
A consumer, Jimmy, said this when contacted by
Daily Express here, Friday. The Water as of press time. Department was not informed of this matter.
Several villages were affected by the incident, he said.
He said this was made worst by the monthly water supply cut.
The pipe leakage was due to wear and tear and some were believed caused by Pan Borneo road project.
Jimmy said the road contractors should be more careful in view of the main pipes underground.
Following the incident, residents were forced to buy bottled water from the shop for bathing, cooking and drinking.
“The Water Department is urged to rectify the main water pipelines by placing a signage such as flags along the road so road contractors are aware of their whereabouts,” he said.
