PENAMPANG: A 28-year-old entertainment outlet manager was arrested for operating without a licence, here, Friday night.
Some 74 party-goers were tested for drugs in the raid carried out by the district’s Criminal Investigation and Narcotics divisions.
Penampang Police Chief Supt Sammy Newton said the results came back negative.
“Musical instruments on the premises were seized and brought to the station along with the man for further investigation under Section 3 of the Public Entertainment Ordinance 1958,” he said.
Saying police will conduct continuous monitoring and operations, Sammy advised entertainment outlet owners to obtain the necessary licences before operating.
Meanwhile, two men were caught driving under the influence of alcohol at a roadblock near the Petron station along Jalan Bundusan.
Sammy said both were arrested under Section 45A(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving with alcohol above the permitted limit.
If convicted, the penalty is up to two years’ imprisonment and a fine of no less than RM10,000.
The “Op Mabuk” operation also saw five summonses issued, three of which were for driving without a licence.
“A total of 35 individuals in 30 vehicles were screened,” he said.
The operations involving eight policemen led by Insp. Jupri Usman ended at 3am.
