Left: The Sabahan pinned to the ground by applying pressure to the neck. He had trouble recovering from the ordeal. A similar act by a US cop using his knee resulted in death within 9 minutes (right).
TAWAU: Sabah non-governmental organisations and Sabahan youths in the peninsula want the security company whose staff was involved in the altercation with an e-hailing rider from Sabah to pay compensation to the latter.

Group representative Muhammad Faisal Mohamad Mohidin said the issue does not only involve violence but also racial discrimination that can threaten good relations between Sabah and the peninsula.

“Based on the viral video, the assailant asked the victim why he spoke a different language when the latter clearly said that he is from Sabah,” he said.
