Kota Kinabalu: Police are looking for a 20-year-old woman after a stillborn baby boy was found in the toilet tank of a homestay in Aeropod, here, on Monday.
Kota Kinabalu District Police Chief ACP Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said a worker alerted by a foul smell coming from the toilet made the shocking discovery about 2.30pm.
“Inspections found the intact baby with no deformities wrapped in a plastic bag.
“The remains have been sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital (HQE) for a post-mortem,” he said in a statement, Tuesday.
Mohd Zaidi said the woman being tracked had checked into the homestay three days before the discovery.
“The case is investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code,” he said.

On Sunday (Nov 5), a newborn girl was found abandoned at the doorsteps of a mosque on Jalan Maktab Gaya, Luyang.
A note was also found with the baby, who was found to be in healthy condition, pleading for the child to be taken care of and placed in a foster home.
