Kuala Lumpur: Suhaimi Abdullah (PN-Langkawi) has apologised over lewd remarks he made to Teresa Kok (PH-Seputeh) in the Dewan Rakyat on Oct 26.
Suhaimi had told Kok she could visit Langkawi “even if you’re not wearing anything” and that he was curious what she would “wear to Langkawi”, sparking an uproar in the Dewan Rakyat.
This came after Kok interrupted Suhaimi during his speech to ask whether shorts could be worn in his constituency.
Today, Suhaimi apologised to the Dewan Rakyat over what he had said, acknowledging that his remarks were wrong.
“I would like to apologise for my mistake during my debate on the 2024 supply bill on Oct 26.
“My apology is directed to the Dewan Rakyat Speaker (Johari Abdul) and MPs that may have been affected because of my mistake,” he said before asking a supplementary question during minister’s question time.
While government backbenchers praised Suhaimi for apologising, Young Syefura Othman (PH-Bentong) urged the opposition MP to apologise directly to Kok, who was not in the House when he made his apology.
