Guan Eng taking legal action against PAS’s Mastura over ‘hate speech’
Lim Guan Eng says PAS MP Siti Mastura Mohamad must be held accountable for her ‘racist and extremist’ comments, which had incited PAS supporters.
PETALING JAYA: DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng says he has asked his lawyers to begin criminal proceedings against Kepala Batas MP Siti Mastura Mohamad for “hate speech”, after his 48-hour deadline for her to apologise lapsed last night.

“Her speech in Kemaman on Nov 4 was full of outrageous lies and malicious slander,” he said in a statement.

Guan Eng said the PAS women’s wing deputy chief made a number of “racist and extremist” allegations in her speech at a political rally last Saturday, including that his father, DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang and the late Communist Party of Malaya leader Chin Peng, were cousins.

Similarly, Mastura also claimed that both Kit Siang and Guan Eng were also cousins of late Singapore prime minister Lee Kuan Yew, while Seputeh MP Teresa Kok is a cousin of Betty Chew, Guan Eng’s wife.

Mastura further alluded that a number of DAP leaders were also blood relations of the Lim family.

“By using non-existent family ties to strike fear, she is clearly racist and extremist. What makes Mastura’s irresponsible behaviour more unacceptable is that she shows no remorse.

“She has refused to show proof of the alleged family ties, nor has she recanted or apologised for her outrageous lies and malicious slander,” he said.

Guan Eng said it was equally concerning that PAS supporters continued to back Mastura purely to rile DAP leaders and members.

The Bagan MP demanded PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and Perikatan Nasional chairman Muhyiddin Yassin state their position on Mastura’s comments.
