TUMPAT: A total of 10 of the country’s 141 entry points have been selected as pilot projects for the Single Border Agency (SBA), starting next year.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the selection of the 10 entry points will be carried out according to several characteristics and uniqueness.

For example, among the 10 entry points are the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminals 1 and 2, the Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex in Rantau Panjang and ICQ Johor, as well as in Sabah.

“These locations are among the entry points selected, as Johor and KLIA are known for being busy, while Rantau Panjang is unique because it is only busy at certain times,” he said.

Saifuddin Nasution said in order to realise the effort, detailed discussions regarding the pilot project are currently underway, and it is expected to begin early next year. He said his Ministry will prioritise the existing staff.

“This matter involves staffing, but we will prioritise the existing staffing. If it is really necessary, then we will apply for new additional staffing, and now the organisational structure is being drawn up,” he said.
